ASLRRA ANGELS IN ACTION AT GIVE KIDS THE WORLD VILLAGE: ASLRRA VOLUNTEER SERVICE PROJECT Saturday, May 1; 9:30am - 4:30pm; $35 per person
ASLRRA's members have participated in volunteer service projects at two of our Central Pacific Region Meetings and those that participated have encouraged us to add a similar volunteer opportunity to the Annual Convention. We are teaming with a local group called Give Kids the World Village which partners with Make-A-Wish groups from all over the world to offer children with life-threatening or terminal illnesses and their families, a respite from the hospitals and the doctors and let them be kids again. The mission of Give Kids the World Village (GKTW) is only possible with the generous and caring hearts of others. Attendees are encouraged to make the time to experience a day of service. Join with other railroad industry employees and support GKTW's mission in a unique and meaningful way. You will be inspired and renewed - working together for a great cause and in turn, the families will continue to enjoy Give Kids the World Village - where happiness really does inspire hope! We'll go to work for a day at GKTW Village. Projects include, but are not limited to major landscaping, painting of exterior/interior of buildings, storage unit organization, major clean-up of property, railroad track maintenance (yes, they have a little railroad on property), gutter cleaning, sanding of the Avenue of Angels, washing/waxing of Village vehicles, brass polishing on carousel, deep cleans of public areas, rocking chair painting/cleaning, and more. Scope of work will be determined based upon the number of volunteers we are able to gather, availability, and skill set. The $40 fee covers your transportation to the work site, lunch, break refreshments, work T-shirt, all of the supplies needed to conduct our work, and other miscellaneous costs that Give Kids the World will incur while hosting our group.
