Welcome Message From Tony Reck, ASLRRA Southern Region VP
As ASLRRA’s Southern Region Vice President, I am delighted to welcome you to attend ASLRRA’s upcoming Southern Region Meeting in Charlotte, NC. The Meeting Planning Committee has focused all of its energies on creating a valuable educational experience, full of opportunities to network and learn something new, while remaining mindful of the many commitments vying for your time and attention. This year we have moved the dinner to Monday night and the meeting will end at noon on Tuesday when the golfers will head to the course for a fun afternoon of fun and fellowship. This event contains all of the education, industry news, and social events that you’ve come to expect from an ASLRRA meeting.
Site of the Nation’s first gold rush in the 1700’s, textile industries sprang to life after the Civil War when Charlotte became a cotton processing center and a major railroad hub. Through the success of the railroads, Charlotte became the Carolina’s largest city and a Southeastern textile and distribution hub. In the past decade or so, Charlotte has been sprouting skyscrapers, banking institutions and a football team. Suburban districts have mushroomed, with landscaped housing developments and enormous shopping malls springing up in every direction. This is the New South, built squarely on the foundation of the Old South and Charlotte is an industrial leader, with the banking, insurance, and transportation industries feeding the economy. One of the “Top 30 Most Visited U.S. Cities”, Charlotte is also home to NASCAR, the U.S. National Whitewater Center, and the Billy Graham Library.
Like the city’s new slogan says, Charlotte’s got a lot.
Our hotel, the Charlotte Marriott City Center, is located in the heart of downtown on Trade Street, close to the Bank of America Stadium, shopping, restaurants and museums.
So don’t miss out on this opportunity to meet with your peers, while sharing ideas and networking with others in the industry. Start your engines and head to Charlotte, Queen City of the South and home to this year’s regional meeting. The Southern Region Board and I sincerely look forward to seeing you and welcoming you to this conference.
