Invitation from TONY RECK, Southern Region VP and

We are delighted to encourage you to attend and participate in this year's Southern Region Meeting in Birmingham (Hoover), Alabama, The Magic City. Your Meeting Planning Committee has focused all of its energies on creating a valuable educational experience, full of opportunities to network and learn something new, while remaining mindful of the many commitments vying for your time and attention.

On the social side of the equation, we have ample opportunities for you to come together and network at this year's meeting. This year, we've grabbed a rare opportunity to hold a golf outing on Sunday. The outing will be a shot-gun start, scramble format, starting at 11:30am. Because this will take place at the opening of the meeting and space is limited, it is important that you register early to save your spot in the outing. Additionally, we need to let the course know early if our club requests will exceed their inventory, so order your clubs when you register! There will not be any time to register on site for golf, so register early. Sunday evening, we'll kick things off with an opening reception, where you can meet new friends and renew old acquaintances. Monday evening, we'll hold a reception in the exhibit area. After dinner, you can head back to the sponsor table area and enjoy refreshments as we queue up our Game Night Reception with Monday Night Football and the KC Chiefs v. the Pittsburgh Steelers. We'll close out the meeting with lunch on Tuesday. In between there are breakfasts, lunch, and refreshment breaks with time set aside for networking.

You also have a Board Election to conduct at this meeting with two railroad board members up for reelection and there is a Small Railroad Sandhouse Session on Sunday afternoon where you can share best practices, blow your own horn, dish the dirt, learn new tactics for working with your Class Is... you name it. The floor is yours. Same thing with the Sandhouse Sessions on Monday afternoon: You set the topics for that session as well. On the business end of the program, and new to the educational lineup this year, are a variety of training seminars and workshops that will cover timely topics, including the new Conductor Certification Compliance requirement and TRANSCAER First Responder Training. These sessions can be attended on their own or they can be added to your existing regional meeting registration at a discounted rate.

So don't miss out on this opportunity to meet with your peers, while sharing ideas and networking with others in the industry. Make plans to head to Birmingham where we're working on building a strong program complete with new features and activities to help you connect. We sincerely look forward to seeing you and welcoming you to this conference.
