INVITATION TO ATTEND from TONY RECK, SOUTHERN REGION VP and THE SOUTHERN REGION BORAD

As many of you may recall, five years ago, we were scheduled to hold this Southern Region Meeting in Biloxi, Mississippi at the beautiful Beau Rivage Resort.  After the utter devastation caused along the Gulf Coast by Hurricane Katrina, it unfortunately became necessary to find a new home for this conference - and fast!  The J.W. Marriott Buckhead stepped up and made room for our event back in 2005 and we are delighted to be returning again this year to once again enjoy their hospitality.

As your board representatives, we are compelled to encourage you to attend and participate in this year's meeting. With so much legislation and regulation bearing down on the railroad industry, and the economy slowly moving forward, you can't afford to miss this event.

The Southern Region Board has focused all of its energies on creating a valuable educational experience, full of opportunities to network and learn something new, while remaining mindful of the many commitments vying for your time and attention.  We've added impact while tightening up the agenda and allowing you the biggest bang for your educational buck.

On the business end of the program, this meeting and the associated HazMat Handling Training seminar will provide a great mix of educational topics that are timely and thought-provoking and designed to keep members up-to-date on the latest changes to the regulations affecting the small railroad industry.  This event embraces all of the education, industry news, and social events that you've come to expect from an ASLRRA meeting.

These meetings are a great opportunity for the face-to-face visits with other members and one of the most important means we have for communication. Every year, priorities, problems and policies change within the environment of regulations, legislation and industry requirements. Feedback from you as to what your concerns are and your views on government and industry matters is crucial to how we conduct the Association's future programs and projects.

So don't miss out on this opportunity to meet with your peers, while sharing ideas and networking with others in the industry. Make plans to head to Atlanta where we're working on building a strong program complete with new features and activities to help you connect.  We sincerely look forward to seeing you and welcoming you to this conference.
