Tips and Updates on Railroad Day on Capitol Hill

The purpose of Railroad Day on the Hill is to get our message out to Congress as clearly and strongly as possible. One of the best ways to do that is to bring one of your customers and/or local officials with you.  Ask any short line executive who has done so in the past and they will tell you that a customer/local official presence results in a much more successful meeting.  The Congressman pays more attention because third party support removes the element of the railroad's financial self-interest from the discussion. Almost 400 people have signed up to participate in this event to date, and while the Railroad Day room block is sold out, rooms still remain in the Grand Hyatt Hotel at a higher rate ($359 at last check).  A quick review of Expedia.com shows other hotels in the area that are offering a comparable rate:

Hilton Garden Inn Washington DC, $269 per night
Crowne Plaza Hamilton, $209 per night
Red Roof Inn, $160 per night
Residence Inn, $239 per night
