The Eastern Indiana Railroad was granted an easement this week by The Union County Redevelopment Commission. The easement will allow the railroad to build a rail spur at their new industrial park on U.S. 27 South… Iowa Interstate’s new "Heritage" locomotive took its inspiration (and paint colors) from that of Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific. The unit will serve the route between Blue Island, IL and Council Bluffs, IA which had previously been served by Rock Island (see photos below)… RMI recently announced the launch of their new web address: www.rmiondemand.com. In addition to a new address, the website now features descriptions on all RMI solutions, including OASIS and AutoTrack… Paducah & Louisville Railway recently received preliminary approval of $400,000 in tax incentives from the state of Kentucky. The funds will be used to build a new "green" headquarters for the railroad… Strasburg Rail Road recently presented Lancaster Farmland Trust with a gift of $25,000 to preserve 77 acres of farmland. The gift, which is the Strasburg Rail Road’s second of its kind in five years, is awarded to an Amish dairy farm in Paradise Township, Pennsylvania… Berks County Pennsylvania is requesting proposals to operate its recently acquired Colebrookdale rail line, running from a Norfolk Southern connection at Pottstown ten miles to Boyertown, PA. Improvements to the rail line would include the installation of new wood ties, continuous-welded rail and ballast, and other reconstruction efforts.
