RSIA Dates
October 16, 2009
- DOT will require the ten states with the highest grade-crossing accident rates to develop action plans.
- Railroads must submit grade crossing inventories to DOT.
- States must submit grade crossing warning device inventory to DOT.
- DOT will evaluate and review state and local laws pertaining to railroad and grade crossing trespassing.
April 16, 2010
- DOT will propose model legislation for improving sight distance.
- DOT will require railroads to maintain toll-free telephone lines for reporting grade crossing problems.
- Railroads must report sold crossings to DOT.
