ASLRRA provides the framework and support for our members to ensure compliance. ASLRRA’s elite staff of industry experts provides representation in Congress and in the regulatory agencies to ensure our voices are heard, and our achievements recognized. A key resource for all short line and regional railroad entities is the Short Line Safety Institute (SLSI). SLSI and its programs support the short line and regional railroad industry’s goal of performing at an increasingly higher level of safety by encouraging a focus on safety culture.

Short Line Industry Set to Achieve Critical Support for Delivering on Mission

WASHINGTON, December 20, 2020 - The day's introduction of the large omnibus appropriations/coronavirus relief/tax legislation in the House of Representatives marks a significant milestone in the short line freight rail industry’s quest for certainty in tax policy that supports investments in critical small freight railroad infrastructure.

Short Lines Meet Virtually with Senator Bob Casey (D-PA)

WASHINGTON, December 18, 2020 - Leaders of three short line railroads and their key customers met with U.S. Senator Robert “Bob” Casey, Jr. (D-PA) for a discussion that included the value of freight rail to the economy, permanence of the Short Line Tax Credit (45G), which enables railroads to invest more of their private funds into infrastructure upgrades via a tax credit, and short line railroads’ resiliency during the COVID pandemic.

WASHINGTON, November 30, 2020 - With restrictions on in-person meetings continuing through the 116th Congressional Session, constituents must be creative in finding ways to connect their Congressional Representatives to their issues. The American Short Line Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA)’s government affairs team has been making use of technology such as Zoom to facilitate knowledge transfer.
